Taking to Twitter, Kohli declared that he will venture down from the job in the wake of filling in as commander since August 2015, after previous partner Mahendra Singh Dhoni at the time reported his retirement from all organizations of worldwide cricket.

Lastly, a big thank you to MS Dhoni who believed in me as a captain and found me to be an able individual who could take Indian Cricket forward.

The BCCI later released a quick statement on Twitter lauding Kohli for his contribution.


With 40 triumphs in 68 Tests, Kohli leaves as India's best captain in the arrangement. He additionally assumed a key part in his group's memorable Test series triumph in Australia, which raised them to the highest point of the ICC Test rankings.
